What is Ka'aKatu?
Ka'aKatu is a language-learning platform that turns any YouTube video into a personal, spaced-repetition vocabulary garden. Unlike generic flashcard apps or subtitle-translation extensions, Ka'aKatu ties every phrase back to its original spoken context and lets learners cultivate and share themed knowledge collections over time.

The Name
Ka'aKatu draws its name from Tupi-Guarani roots ka'a (forest, living plant world) and katu (good, fertile, well-formed) to describe a learning environment that feels alive, fertile, and deliberately cultivated, rather than a static app or a rigid curriculum.
Ka'a signals the forest and living plant matter that anchors the “input” side of the product - raw video content as fertile ground - while katu signals the quality of that ground: good, fertile, capable of bearing fruit. Together, the name encodes the product's core belief before a single feature is explained: language grows in living, real conditions, not in artificial drills.

When a phrase catches your eye, harvest it as a Seed. It lands in your Germinating Bed, where you can sort it into themed Knowledge Islands. From there, daily spaced-repetition review (we call it Watering) helps each Seed grow from Seedling to Sprouting to Bloom, right on schedule.
